pink oil truck Pink Oil Trucks for Breast Cancer Awareness

Todd Strileckis isn’t too manly to drive a pink oil truck. After all, a penny a gallon can go a long way in the fight against breast cancer.According to the Waterbury Republican American, that’s how much the 43 year-old Watertown man donates — all year — to the Baltimore-based American Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF). Ofcourse, the money is NOT for him. In the two years since he started the endeavor, he has raised more than $15,000 for the nonprofit that provides direct financial assistance to the uninsured and the underserved by helping them get screened, diagnosed and treated for breast cancer.

The nine-year-old Strileckis Oil company delivers to households and businesses. Strileckis came upon the idea three years ago when he read about a propane company in New Hampshire that partnered with the ABCF. He called the organization to find out how he could help.

Strileckis has two pink trucks, each carries about 2,800 gallons of oil. Both carry the ABCF logo with a pink ribbon.

The ABCF’s national program, called Key to Life, brought in oil and propane manufacturers as partners in 2006. Cheshire-based Paraco Gas is another local company that participates in the program. According to ABCF, Paraco’s four pink trucks raise $16,000 per contract year.
