During yesterday’s solar eclipse, this NASA photo shows the International Space Station in silhouette as it transits the Sun at roughly five miles per second.

The photo was taken from from Ross Lake, Northern Cascades National Park, Washington. On board the ISS as part of Expedition 52 are: NASA astronauts Peggy Whitson, Jack Fischer, and Randy Bresnik; Russian cosmonauts Fyodor Yurchikhin and Sergey Ryazanskiy; and ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Paolo Nespoli.

The next total eclipse for North America will occur on April 8, 2024.
