Wynn Resorts has revealed the toll the coronavirus pandemic has taken on its workforce.

The Las Vegas strip casino disclosed that more than 500 employees have tested positive for COVID-19, reported Fox Business.

Wynn has administered more than 15,000 tests to staff members, as it is required they get a negative diagnosis before returning to work.

The company announced 51 employees tested positive prior to reopening in June and another 497 in the months following. The 548 total positive employees have resulted in the resort having a positivity rate of 3.6%, the outlet noted.

"Our goal, by implementing our Surveillance Testing Program and establishing a robust in-house contact tracing effort, is to make Wynn Las Vegas the safest place our guests and employees can go outside of their own homes," said Wynn Resorts CEO Matt Maddox, per Fox News.

"The Company has continued to see a significant downward trend in virus positivity rates since it began its multi-faceted Pre-employment and Surveillance Testing Programs.”

Maddox also said 98% of the employees who tested positive had contracted the novel virus outside of work, reported the Associated Press.

Employees are tested in groups of 700 every two weeks. The company has also set up a team of 10 staff members who are tasked with contract tracing all positive cases within the resort’s workforce.

Since reopening three months ago, Wynn Las Vegas has hosted over 500,000 guests and six have since tested positive, the resort said.
