Prince William Jokes Diana Would Have Been a 'Nightmare' Grandmother

Marking the 20th anniversary since Princess Diana’s untimely death in a tragic car accident comes a new documentary about her life. The doc, titled “Diana Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy,” features personal interviews with her son, Prince William.

In the interviews, William opens up on what it would have been like to have Diana around as a grandmother to his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. According to Prince William, he talks about her “constantly” to keep her memory alive, People reports.

“It’s hard because obviously Catherine didn’t know her, so she cannot really provide that – that level of detail,” he admits. “So I do [when] regularly putting George or Charlotte to bed, talk about her and just try and remind them that there are two grandmothers, there were two grandmothers in their lives, and so it’s important that they know who she was and that she existed,” he continues.

But Diana would have been a unique kind of grandmother, William admits. While it would have been fun to have her around, he reveals that she may have been one to cause a bit of trouble.

“She’d be a nightmare grandmother, absolute nightmare,” he joked. “She’d love the children to bits, but she’d be an absolute nightmare. She’d come and go and she’d come in probably at bath time, cause an amazing amount of scene, bubbles everywhere, bathwater all over the place and – and then leave.”
